TITLE:  College & Career Readiness Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION:  Administration

DEPARTMENT:  Student Services

WORK HOURS:  40 hrs per week

CONTRACT LENGTH:  246 Days

COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS COORDINATOR

 

Summary

To supervise and coordinate assigned educational program activities and operations; to coordinate activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; to coordinate the district AP/Honors, dual credit, and concurrent enrollment programs; to attain K-12 college and career readiness benchmarks; and to provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services

 

Supervision Received and Exercised

 

Receives general direction from Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.

Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical and clerical staff.

 

Essential Function Statements - Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  1. Coordinate the organization, staffing and operational activities for assigned program. 
  1. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities; recommend and implement resulting policies and procedures. 
  1. Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate management staff; implement improvements. 
  1. Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for assigned program services and activities; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems. 
  1. Perform on site monitoring and evaluation of programs and prepare all required reporting documents as required. 
  1. Attend and present information at public hearings and meetings. 
  1. 7. Arrange and conduct parent committee meetings; solicit and maintain membership. 
  1. Select, train, motivate and evaluate program personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures. 
  1. Develop and administer assigned program budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; recommend adjustments as necessary. 
  1. Provide staff assistance to the Assistant Superintendent; participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary. 
  1. Coordinate the district AP/Honors, dual credit, and concurrent enrollment programs to ensure students are ready for college and/or careers upon graduation. 
  1. Build and sustain relationships with colleges, businesses and external organizations. 
  1. Coordinate program activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations. 
  1. Attend and participate in professional group meetings, stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of federal program administration 
  1. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required 

Qualification Requirements

Knowledge of:

  • Operational characteristics, services and activities of assigned school district educational program.
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of program planning and preparation.
  • Methods and techniques of program evaluation.
  • Principles of school district budget preparation and control
  • Laws and regulations pertaining to federal programs.
  • Purchasing procedures and regulations applicable to federal programs.
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations. 

Ability to:

  • Supervise, direct and coordinate the work of lower level staff
  • Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff.
  • Interpret and explain district policies and procedures.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Present information and facilitate workshops and in-services.
  • Simultaneously manage several program projects.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of district and other government officials, community groups and the general public.
  • Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions and demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities. 

Experience and Training Guidelines

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities as qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

 

Experience:

  • Three years of secondary (9th-12th grade) or post-secondary work experience required.
  • Career pathway experience preferred

Training:

Equivalent to a Masters’ degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in secondary education, bilingual/multi-culture education, education administration or a related field.

 

Licensure Required:

  • Ability to obtain NMPED Administrative License
